Technically, both are the same car, same engine, same platform, and even same design ( only some minor change in bumper and rims). The only different is the Inspira is assemble by Proton in Shah Alam and tuning of the suspension is done by Lotus Famous ride and handling.
But one thing I didn't understand is why the Proton Inspira is cost more then a Lancer GT(if not include the tax). If you live in Langkawi Island, you may notice that the Lancer GT is just cost RM 72,000, but the Inspira (2.0 liter) price tag is start from RM 84,000. The Proton Inspira is assemble in here, Malaysia. But it cost more than a Lancer GT which is completely import from Japan. Proton Inspira contain 26% of local parts in it and is still cost more than a Lancer GT.
May be the Proton think that they can sell the car with a lower price than the Lancer GT in Malaysia except in Langkawi and Labuan Island. But they may already forget the other competitors from Korea. Yes, it's the Kia Forte 2.0 sx which have the same price tag (almost, with a different of a thousand ringgit only) with the Inspira. Both have the same spec, same engine displacement.
For me, I rather choose the Forte because of two reason. First, is the design of the Forte which is quite a good looking car, not that i don't like the design of the Inspira (or Lancer). the front of the Inspira is quite good, actually, but the rear, is kinda weird. Second is the quality, I'm rather believe the build quality of the Korean is better, while the Proton is still try to catching up.
In previous blog (which is the "finally, the waja replacement is out........"), i mention that the quality built of the japanese. And some of you may confused with this "Inspira Vs Lancer GT" which i write that i rather believe the quality built of the korean. This is because the Inspira is built by Proton in Shah Alam and i still not so confidence with the attiude and quality proton it have.
