After ten years the Proton Waja being roll out, the replacement model of the Waja is out. Set to be launch at 10 of November, the replacement model, which is call the Inspira is a re-badged model of the Mitsubishi Lancer GT. Available in three variant-1.8 liter with five speed manual transmission, 1.8 liter with INVECS-III six speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a 2.0 liter with CVT.
Good for Proton because finally it awake the capability of making a proper car, what i mean is the previous Proton have a bad history of making poor quality, weird looking car, but then, Proton realize that it can't afford to develop a whole new car. It not a bad thing because developing a new isn't cheap, it may cause billion of ringgit. And re-badging a car, however, is lot more cheaper and the quality of the car is much more higher.
But the price range of the Inspira is quite high, which cost RM 79,888-95,000. with this price range, it will be a direct compete with the Kia Forte (2.0 liter model) which cost almost the same (RM 91,000). Whether the Inspira will be a good buy? it depend on the consumer mind set about the Proton. If the consumer mind set still stay at the era that car made by the Proton is equal to rubbish, then it will be a bad sale record for the Inspira.
In my opinion, the quality of the Inspira will not be bad as it is the rebadge of the Lancer GT. Everything, from it's chassis to the engine, is from the Mitsubishi Technology, Japanese car maker have is famous of it's quality built.
